Permanent Residents Canada are eligible to apply for a PR Card Renewal only in the following instances:

• 1-They have been in Canada for more than 180 days and have yet to obtain their PR Card; 
• 2-their PR Card has lapsed or will expire within the next 9 months; 
• 3-their PR Card has been destroyed, lost, or stolen; 
• 4-or they have officially changed their name and need to update their card.

The Canadian government requires regular residents to spend at least 730 days (two years) in the country within the preceding five years. The 730 days may include a portion of time spent overseas and do not need to be consecutive. Hours spent overseas with a Canadian citizen husband, common-law partner, or parent; Full-time employment with a Canadian company or the federal or provincial government of Canada; Full-time employment in the Canadian public sector;

Being a husband, common-law partner, or parent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is working full-time for a Canadian firm or the federal or provincial government.

The PR Card extension application can be submitted on Humanitarian and Caring principles even if the domicile requirements have not been fulfilled.
