In force since January 1, 2015, Express Entry is the new foreigner selection system of the Canadian government, which works through an electronic platform that registers the profiles of the candidates, who are evaluated under the criteria of the federal immigration programs.
Subsequently, the best profiles receive an invitation to make a formal application for immigration.

The requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada through Express Entry are now simpler, in many ways, since the lists of professions and the fees for participation have been eliminated. However, in the consultant’s opinion, the system is still unknown to most users, and participating can be a challenge due to the complexity of the process.

How to use the Express Entry system

“Our goals are to explain in detail how to use the Express Entry system, what are the requirements that candidates must meet, and what options they have to obtain permanent residence in Canada,” explains Centeno.

It is important that Latin American workers know that from the last draw that was carried out under the Express Entry, corresponding to March 20, 2015, the system has begun the selection of candidates who reside outside of Canada and do not have a job offer from a Canadian company.

Opportunity to live and work in Canada

Therefore, the opportunity to live and work in Canada is open to workers in any occupation with English or French language skills, even if they do not have a job offer from an employer in Canada.

To all Spanish speakers who intend to settle down in Canada as immigrants especially, the participation of young professionals of any profession is recommended, who have at least two years of work experience and good knowledge of any of the two official languages of Canada, English or French.

What are the basic requirements to immigrate to Canada?

The essential requirements to apply for a Canada immigrant visa are:

The essential requirements to apply for a Canada immigrant visa are:

  • Possess a post-secondary or technical education degree.
  • Have at least 4 years of work experience in the last 10 years.
  • Fluent in English or French.
  • Preferably be between 20 and 35 years of age.

What opportunities do Latin Americans have to be chosen as immigrants by the Canadian government?

Latin America is a key market for Canadian immigration plans. Many Latin American workers, professionals, and technicians, especially from the oil industry and from the areas of health, information technology, and construction, among others, have great possibilities of living and working in Canada as permanent residents and future citizens of that country.
Opportunities are available to Latin American professionals who have the academic background, professional experience, and command of Canadian languages (English and French). It is not essential to have a job offer in Canada.

We know that the key to success in immigrating to Canada in 2022 is the correct preparation of the candidate’s file. Avoiding errors is very important since a poorly prepared file can lead to severe sanctions, such as the impossibility of re-participating in the system for two years.
