Work Permit Types

To be eligible to apply to have your temporary resident status restored with work authorization on a work permit, you must meet the following requirements: 1. You must currently be residing in Canada after having been authorized to enter as a temporary resident, and 2. You must either: 

  • 1-have a valid working permit  
  • 2-have  authorization to work in Canada under section 186(u) of the (IRPR) because you have submitted an application to renew your work permit under subsection R201(1); or
  • 3-be eligible.

You must be the main candidate for one of the following Canadian permanent citizenship schemes to qualify:

Programs like the FSW Program, Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Professions Program, Province Candidate Program, Québec Skilled Employees, and the Agri-Food Pilot Program are all examples of such initiatives.

Third, you need to have reached at least one of the following points in the APR process:

All of the following conditions have been met: the applicant’s Express Entry permanent residence application was found to be complete in accordance with Section 10 of the IRPR; the applicant’s application for permanent residence (APR) in the Quebec skilled worker programme was found to be complete in accordance with Section 10 of the IRPR; the applicant received a favorable eligibility assessment for their APR submitted by mail or online in the Caring for People with High Medical Needs Class.

It’s important to note that the above process may or may not have been finished depending on the course you’re trying to enroll in.

After obtaining a BOWP, your companion or husband may be capable of applying for an open work permit as well, which is a wonderful perk.

Your significant other may qualify if

-Your companion or lover will need to meet certain criteria in order to qualify for an open employment permit. 

Specifically, they must:

  • 1-be authorised to work in Canada for at least 6 months following the receipt of the spousal open work permit application; 
  • 2-be employed in 1 of the following occupations: those classified as National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Levels 0, A, or B; those classified as NOC Skill Levels 0, A, or C under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot; any occupation and formally holds a provincial licence;

Where do I submit my application for a BOWP?

CanadianVisa.org and the government’s own internet application form are both good options for obtaining a visa. You’ll have to cover not only your own costs, but also those of anyone else who wants to tag along. At the conclusion of the registration process, you will be requested to submit payment.
